For the last few weeks we have been busy in Minnesota gathering information and parts for the new 'Sparky' cell design. A High Voltage Tesla technology based sparker, that was designed, built and donated by Dr. Stoyan Sarg will be used to stimulate the powder.
So far we played with wires, made an HV suppression circuit and set up the HUGnet lab boards to play nice with our new HV toy.
With immense help from our returning volunteer "Skip", who worked over long days and nights, we received and made all the necessary components. Now we have started to assemble the new cell.
Daily progress has been documented into Evernote as we really like the instant result when working with it. We have also worked on the website, where we can now introduce you to the project, piece by piece, and let you comment on it. Any suggestions how to make it more readable and undertandable are welcomed.
Enjoy and hope ho hear your thoughts soon.
UPDATE #1 - Cool videos
Assembling the Sparky cell
UPDATE #2 - Sparky is preparing for a jolt
The Sparky cell with the Ahern powder in has been loading with Hydrogen since the 17th of December and the H2 Pressure is now dropping by 2 or so psi per day which is not very exciting.
Currently it is at a nice stable 330ºC with 8W of input power, so we think it is about time to try to a few sparks.
We'll be trying out a few different temperatures/spark energies over the next few days to see what happens. Ryan will do it manually at first and then later on automatic script.
After that, as planned, we'll add some LiAlH4 assuming we can work out how to do this. The sparks should reach the required temperature to break down the LiAlH4.
-------
Ryan did a few sparks manually and it settled pretty quickly - need to wait till monday to allow some automation.

the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify
it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice quality writing,
it is rare to see a nice blog like this one nowadays.
with yourr clients. Youu might give them a coupon and invite

There are various companies online that are provikding severazl services lijke target keywords, followers and likes.

However, since the other cell appears to have been affected in a similar way, it's likely an artifact of something.

Nice job on the electrode. Did you bake out the organic binder in the ceramic felt? Or are you thinking the stem of the cell won't get hot enough to cause a bake out during a live run?
We will be using the Nickel/palladiu m nano island in zirconium oxide powder that was supplied by Brian Ahern from the US Ames National Laboratory and that has been milled over the past several weeks as a donation by Permanetix corp (more on that in a coming blog post.) This powder is designed to have the nano metals of the right size in a insulating ZrO of the right micro size that will not sinter. We will be testing this powder in the current powder cell (thermal only) and the new plasma/arching cell which hopefully will be able to test the claims made in Dr. Brian Ahern's more recent patent application.

There is a team of volunteers currently working on making the site and experiments more accessible for the majority, please bear with us during this process - which will hopefully include a move to a responsive template that will be useable across all platforms.
I believe the way the website is currently structured (at a webpage hierarchy level; there's no need to switch to a different CMS to solve this) makes it difficult for followers to know when new experiments are added or general news posted. I might have a solution but that would require yet another website structure change (which means people would have to update their RSS feed links once again).
