Hi all,
It was great to see the setup at ICCF18. I mentioned when chatting to one of your gents that when using type K thermocouples you can find the dreaded green rot occurring on the thermocouple junction and wire.
There are sites that explain it a little however I'd recommend moving to a different thermocouple type or at least test for thermocouple drift.
I'm happy to discuss sensor technologies and replacements if you need any help.

We are not using external temperature monitoring to calculate the excess heat.
But it will be interesting to compare these thermocouple placed inside hydrogen with another identical thermocouple that was not immersed in such gas.

It's just something to bear in mind that any sensors not designed for a reducing atmosphere such as type k and stainless steel shrouded sensors will eventually see their temperatures drift as they are attacked by hydrogen. An aluminium oxide sheathed platinum sensor would work, as would a different chemistry thermocouple. Even if it is just being used to set the temperature of the wires you'd see a drift over time.
