Positioning of the cumbustable gas detector
The weight of the "Bang!" reactor core assembly.
0.49g was a Ni_LiAlH4 mixture.
Most of the fractured Alumina inside the 1" tube was contained. Everything outside the SiC element was ejected. Here is a look at the kind of fracture that occurred with pieces in place.
The Swagelok fitting - still containing the alumina
More debris - interesting point here is the melted SiC element section that was near the post explosion "bloom"
Close-up of some of the debris from the reactor core breach.
- the sintered fuel showing very small spheres on the surface of something
- parts of the fractured alumina core, with what appears to be a smooth aluminium (/Lithium?) deposit which diffuses a little through the Almumina
- fragments of the Silicon Carbide heating element
