Welcome

The Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project is a group dedicated to researching Low Energy Nuclear Reactions (often referred to as LENR) while sharing all procedures, data, and results openly online. We rely on comments from online contributors to aid us in developing our experiments and contemplating the results. We invite everyone to participate in our discussions, which take place in the comments of our experiment posts. These links can be seen along the right-hand side of this page. Please browse around and give us your feedback. We look forward to seeing you around Quantum Heat.

Join us and become part of the project. Become one of the active commenters, who question our work and suggest next steps.

Or, if you are an experimenter, talk to us about becoming an affiliated lab and doing your work in a Live Open Science manner.

There have been several postings elsewhere on the direct production of EMF from Rossi's "Hot Cat". For example:

Rossi: Electromotive Force Produced Directly from the Hot Cat
Now he is saying that the Hot Cat can also produce an electromagnetic force (EMF), and not through some kind of thermoelectric process, but directly from the hot cat reactor.

Any speculation on the source of the EMF? Would it be appropriate at this stage of development to try to detect for fluctuations in magnetic fields when the apparatus is in operation, small as they might be relative to a Hot Cat?

Any comment would likely be wild speculation based on a very vague comment. Anyway....

- Piezo effect of some kind
- EMF pulse events
- Some form of induction from resistive heater
- Some form of harmonic from any potential control RF
- Some static or capacitive discharge artefact

Without knowing the nature of the EMF - duration, pulse waveform shape, frequency, amplitude - it is near meaningless to judge.

A ham radio operator would use a coil of wire with a germanium diode feeding a low pass filter capacitor (0.1uf). The relative field strength would be read out on an ordinary DC voltmeter. Difficult to calibrate, but very good for a yes/no answer about RF energy or tuning an antenna.
